Redeveloping Blighted Properties in the Community

Lake City received a $400,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to address brownfields potentially contaminated by hazardous substances and/or petroleum products. Grant funds are being used to complete environmental site assessments (Phase I & II, and Asbestos & Lead Based Paint Surveys) on selected brownfield sites within our City. Other grant activities include community outreach, cleanup & redevelopment planning, and visioning. These efforts will facilitate the transition of former commercial and industrial sites to new, useful purposes. The redevelopment of these properties will spur economic growth and create jobs while protecting the environment. Please click here to review our General Frequently Asked Questions.
